I am a hip-hop head. I have a deep love for the genre and conscious rap - Rapture Musiq // INTERVIEW

I would love people to listen to my songs with an open mind and just vibe to the sound and have a good time, while at the same time gaining or learning a thing or two.
— Rapture Musiq aka Supreme Sypha

Marie: Rapture, how did you get to writing songs, playing music, and since when do you perform in public?

Rapture: I started writing songs as young as I can remember in high school specifically was when I took writing a bit seriously. Plus I've always had a love for music and I come from a family of music-oriented folks back home. I started performing on stage in high school (music social nights).

Marie: How would you describe the music scene in Prague and how does the audience in the Czech Republic respond to your genre?

Rapture: Having moved from Budapest to Prague recently, I’d honestly say that I am enjoying the reception of people to my sound, and I love the music scene out here because of how vibrant it is. Lots of spaces where you can showcase your talents.

Marie: Tell us about the singles you released already. What are the stories behind the songs and what was your inspiration for this?

Rapture: Altogether I have like 36 songs out on all music streaming platforms. So I started with an EP called “The Prelude” and it had 5 songs on it. That was just like an introduction to the Hungarian audience. Then I followed it up with a 10-track mixtape “Echoes”. I dropped a couple of singles in between before I started the Black Out series, which is a 3 part EP series that features 5 songs each. “Black Out I” and “Black Out II”  are already out and the 3rd and final part will be out in early 2022. Meanwhile my latest Single “Stay With Me” received awesome love from everybody that has heard it. And the song talks about a toxic relationship where both individuals are hurting but can’t let go. And the only option is to work on themselves. And the inspiration behind this was just life in general, we all have experienced some sort of heartbreak one way or another and I just went off that. I also have a bunch of videos on Youtube of some of these songs.

Marie: Do you have any upcoming releases, what is the plan, and can you tell us what we can look forward to?

Rapture: Yes, I have a shi*load of new unreleased music I’m sitting on. “Black Out III” will be out in March 2022, and I have 4 singles dropping before then and they’ll be a mix of everything, from Hip-hop to RnB to afrobeat and reggae. So my best advice to everyone that vibes to my sound are, tell a friend to tell a friend and get with the program so you don’t miss a thing. I have lots of beautiful sounds on the way for y’all.

Marie: Are your songs autobiographical or do they come from your imagination or both?

Rapture: It has always been a mix of both honestly. But there are special songs that are purely from my experience and there are those that are from my imagination, or social issues going on around me like racism, police brutality, government corruption, and all that. For example, "Phases, Waterfalls, Down On Me" are all from my imaginations. While songs like "Stay With Me, Miles Away, Faded, Thief" are all songs from personal experiences.

Marie: Which of these songs have you chosen to play for (A)VOID sessions, and why?

Rapture: I performed “Stay With Me”, and because it is a very relatable song. Everyone has experienced emotional hurt at some point and I know that this would strike a chord with those going through it and maybe help them work on themselves. And also of course… It’s a damn nice song too. :)

Marie: You’ve been influenced by artists some people may not be that familiar with such as (please fill out). How would you identify your conscious and unconscious influences on your upcoming debut album?

Rapture: I am a hip-hop head. I have a deep love for the genre and conscious rap. That being said, I listen a lot to artists like Crooked I, Royce da 5’9, Black Thought, and most new school-conscious hip-hop rappers. So their influence on my forthcoming projects will be felt but at the same time, I am still going to do me and go with the flow.

Marie: How would you like for your music to be received? Where and when should people listen to it best?

Rapture: I would love people to listen to my songs with an open mind and just vibe to the sound and have a good time, while at the same time gaining or learning a thing or two. The best place to listen to my songs is Spotify, Apple Music, and Youtube. But Then you can find my songs on every music streaming platform, with the name “Rapture Muziq”

Marie: Do you listen to much music on Spotify, and if so, what are the top releases we should check out?

Rapture: Yes I do, Spotify is my top streaming platform at the moment and is what I am focused on growing my brand on. My top releases to check out are “Black Out II”, “Stay With Me” “Bang” and “Phases”.

Marie: And finally, what are your plans for 2021?

Rapture: As the Year comes to an end all I plan is to keep releasing new music, and get better at my craft till the world is ready to listen. Because I know the world will, it’s just a matter of time.
